Obituary of Anthony Cassandra

Anthony Cassandra, 72, of Freehold, New Jersey, beloved husband and best friend of Camille Cassandra for 50 years, passed away peacefully surrounded by the ones he laughed with, lived for, and loved, on August 7, 2012. Anthony was born, raised, and had lived in Brooklyn before moving to Freehold in 1976. He attended Brooklyn College and earned an engineering degree which he utilized in his years of service in the United States Army National Guard. Anthony was a U.S. Army Veteran during the Vietnam War. Following his service, he owned and operated a dress manufacturing company in Brooklyn, as well as a sporting goods store in Freehold, and upon his retirement he worked for Laidlaw Bus Company. He was a parishioner of St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus, #1672, Freehold. Anthony was a passionate sports fan, who enjoyed watching the NY Giants win the Super Bowl this past season and was a lifelong NY Mets fan. However, his favorite team of all time was his grandson's baseball team, the Jersey Mudcats. Anthony was predeceased by his father, Frank Cassandra and a brother, Nicholas. He is survived by his wife, Camille DiBartolo Cassandra; two sons, Christopher Cassandra and his wife, Kathleen of Freehold Township and Anthony Cassandra and his wife, Vanessa of New Egypt; five grandchildren, Kayla, Christopher, Liliana, Cameron, and Michael; his mother, Lucia Cassandra; two brothers and three sisters-in-law, Vito and Patricia Cassandra, Dominic and Donna Cassandra, and Blanche Cassandra; a sister, Vivian Cassandra; and many nieces and nephews. Visiting at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road, Freehold Township on Thursday, August 9, 2012 from 6:00 to 9:00 PM.
