Obituary of Lois Barrett

Lois E. Barrett, 85, of Freehold Township passed away on Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at Wedgewood Gardens, Freehold Twp. Lois was born and raised in Caney, Kansas and had lived in New Rochelle, NY, Hazlet, and Howell before settling to Freehold Twp. in 2002. She received her Bachelor's degree from Newark Teachers College. Lois was the director and head teacher at Creative Campus Nursery School for eight years prior to opening up Maple Place Preschool in 1970. She was the owner of Maple Place Preschool, Keyport for over thirty-years retiring in 1997. Lois was a past president and member of the NJ Association for the Education of Young Children. She was an avid reader, enjoyed working in the yard tending to her garden, was an ardent walker, and took great pleasure in traveling, but her greatest love was her grandchildren. Lois is survived by her son, Brian Barrett and his wife, Monica of Freehold Twp; a daughter, Melody Puma of Colts Neck; four grandchildren, Rose Barrett, Michael Lefthand, Katie Puma, and Alex Puma; her faithful canine companion, Liam; a brother, Claude Wilson of Cooperstown, New York, a sister, Delora Walker of Jackson, Mississippi; and many nieces and nephews. Relative and friends are invited to attend her memorial service at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road, Freehold Township on Saturday, August 11, 2012 at 1:00 PM.
