Obituary of William Hammer
William "Bill" D. Hammer, Sr., age 49, of Farmingdale, passed away on Thursday, March 26, 2009, at Jersey Shore Medical Center in Neptune. Mr. Hammer was born in Milton, Fla., and had lived in Beachwood before moving to Farmingdale in 1999. He was a carpenter for over 25 years and most recently with the Carpenters Union, Local 2250, Red Bank. Mr. Hammer was a volunteer Cub Scout for pack 13. He was an avid pool player and loved riding his motorcycle and dirt bike.
He was predeceased by his parents, Leonard L. and Ida B. Hammer and by his brothers, Warren Candia and Leonard Hammer, Jr. He is survived by his wife, Peggy Miller-Hammer of Farmingdale. He was the loving father of six sons and one daughter, William Hammer, Jr. of Pittsburgh, Pa., Jason Hammer of North Beach, Md., Cameron Hammer of Farmingdale, Kevin Miller, Jr. of Virginia Beach, Va., Kristopher Miller of Farmingdale, Kyle Miller of Hedgesville, W. Va., Kayla Miller of Virginia Beach, Va.; seven grandchildren; and three brothers, Thomas Hammer, Sr. of Laurel Md., David Candia of Riverview, Fla., and John Candia of Hampton, Va.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 31, 2009, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold, NJ. Friends and relatives are invited to attend his Funeral Service at 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment will be private.
