Obituary of Melvin Brindley

Rev. Melvin L. Brindley, Sr., 81, of Brick Township went home to be with the Lord on May 31, 2012. He was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather and great grandfather as well as a faithful preacher of the gospel. He was born on April 13, 1931 in Spring Lake and graduated from Manasquan High School. After serving in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, Rev. Brindley answered the call of the Lord and attended Bethany Bible College and Philadelphia College of the Bible. He then served as founding Pastor of Bible Baptist Church in Glendola, NJ for over forty years. He retired in 1997 and became Pastor Emeritus at CrossPoint Baptist Church in Farmingdale, NJ. Surviving is his wife of sixty years, Mildred Brindley of Brick; four sons, Rev. Melvin Brindley, Jr. of Chestertown, Maryland, James Brindley of New Castle, Delaware, Rev. Daniel Brindley of Jackson, NJ and Timothy Brindley of Conway, South Carolina; a daughter, Karen Savannah of Milesberg, Pennsylvania; a brother, Kenneth Brindley of Brick Township. Adding to his legacy are fourteen grandchildren and twenty six great grandchildren. Visiting at the CrossPoint Baptist Church, 462 Squankum Yellowbrook Road, Farmingdale, NJ on Tuesday, June 5, 2012 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 noon with his funeral service at 12:00 noon. Interment will follow at the Brig. General Wm. C. Doyle NJ Veterans Cemetery, Arneytown. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in the memory of Rev. Brindley may be made to CrossPoint Baptist Church, 462 Squankum Yellowbrook Road, Farmingdale, NJ 07727.
