Obituary of Michele Velardo

Michele Episcopo Velardo, 40, Howell, after fighting cancer for 20 months lost her battle on Thursday, March 5, 2009, with her family and loved ones at her side. Born in Livingston and raised in Verona, Michele graduated from Verona High School in 1987. After two years at Ramapo College and Capri Beauty School, Michele was a manicurist in Verona and Cedar Grove. She loved holidays at her home with lots of family and Christmas in Cape May with her cousins. From early spring to late fall, Michele could always be seen cheering her sons playing baseball at North Howell Little League. She spent her summers at Point Pleasant Inlet and Snug Harbor fishing and crabbing. Michele is survived by her husband, Chris Verlardo of Howell; two sons, Christopher and Dominick, at home; her parents, Roselyn and Dominick Episcopo of Toms River; her in-laws, Patrick and Frances Velardo of Toms River; a brother and sister-in-law, Dominic and Dawn Episcopo of Philadelphia, Pa.; and her brothers-in-law, Patrick Velardo and his wife Tina of Manalapan, and Anthony Velardo and his wife Roseanne of Woodbridge. Visiting hours will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, March 8, 2009 at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Rite of Committal at 8:30 a.m. Monday, March 9, 2009 at the funeral home, followed by her 9:30 a.m. funeral mass at St. Veronica's Catholic Church, 4215 Route 9 North, Howell. Entombment will follow in Ocean County Memorial Park, Toms River. For those who desire, memorial contributions in memory of Michele may be made to the Howell First Aid, P.O.
