Obituary of Marion Barczak
Marion S. Barczak, 80, of Freehold, died Thursday, Feb. 19, 2009, at CentraState Medial Center, Freehold Township. Mr. Barczak was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. and had lived in Queens, N.Y., Anchorage, Alaska, and Manalapan before moving to Surrey Downs, Freehold in 1985. He was a parishioner of St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, Freehold Township. He was a former parishioner of St. Thomas More, Manalapan, and Our Lady of Mercy, Englishtown. Mr. Barczak was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during World War II in occupied Japan. He was a Class of 1951 graduate of New York University receiving his degree in Civil Engineering. He received his MBA from Fairleigh Dickinson University in 1975. Mr. Barczak enjoyed bowling, golf and Atlantic City casinos. In his later years, he discovered a love of cooking. Mr. Barczak was employed at Fort Monmouth in Lab Com and ERAD Com for 32 years, retiring in 1995. He worked for the U.S. Army in Alaska. Prior to that, Mr. Barczak was employed by the U.S. Postal Service.
He was predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Catherine, in October 2008; three brothers, Joseph, John, and Frank Barczak; and a sister, Stella Kriz. Surviving are two sons, Kenneth Barczak of Howell, and Walter Barczak of Freehold; a brother, Edward Barczak of Pennsylvania; two sisters, Helen Majieski of New Hyde Park, N.Y., and Loretta Durkin of Wall; and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 22, 2009 at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road, Freehold Township. Relatives and friends may gather at 9 a.m. Monday, Feb. 23, 2009 at the funeral home for the Rite of Committal, followed by his 10 a.m. Funeral Mass at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, 61 Georgia Road, Freehold Township.
