Obituary of Anne Van Benthuysen-Layton

Anne R. Van Benthuysen-Layton, 97, of Farmingdale passed away on Sunday, February 7, 2016 at Bartley Healthcare, Jackson. Anne was born, raised and lived her entire life in Farmingdale. She retired as a school teacher for Freehold Township Schools in 1980, prior to that she taught in the Howell Township School System. Anne was a lifelong and active member of the First United Methodist Church of Farmingdale, where she was the oldest living member until her passing. Anne was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Molly Pitcher Chapter and the Farmingdale Historical Society. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Anne was predeceased by her first husband, Seth Van Benthuysen; her second husband, Warren Layton; and a son, William S. Van Benthuysen. She is survived by a son, Terry Van Benthuysen of Point Pleasant; a granddaughter, Terri Anne Harper of Fruitland Park, Florida; a grandson, Michael Van Benthuysen of Florida; two great grandchildren, Levi and Landon Harper; and many dear friends. Visitation will be held at the First United Methodist Church of Farmingdale, 8 Main Street, Farmingdale, NJ 07727 on Tuesday, February 16, 2016 from 9:00 to 10:00 AM with her funeral service to follow at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The arrangements are under the direction of the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, Freehold Township.
