Obituary of Marilyn Lonati

Marilyn Lonati, 77, of Freehold Township, passed away peacefully Thursday, January 14, 2016, at Wedgwood Gardens, surrounded by her loving family. She was born and raised in Garfield, moved to Elmwood Park, and settled in Whiting. During Marilyn's professional career she worked as a loan counselor at Central Bergen Federal Credit Union for 15 dedicated years before retiring in 2000. She was a member of The Kennedy Democratic Club of Garfield. In her spare time she loved traveling, going on cruises, playing cards, and cooking, but above all, she loved her boys and was adored by her family. Marilyn was predeceased by her parents Jack "Larkin" Amato and Nellie Faber Amato; and a brother, George Amato. Marilyn is survived by her three children, Sal Spoto and his wife, Donna, of Cliffside Park, Jack Spoto and his wife, Laurie, of Freehold, Russ Spoto and his wife, Lorraine, of Pennsylvania; a sister, Tena Casper and her husband, Carl, of Gallaway Township; eight grandchildren, Dawn, Kelly, Salvatore, Annie, Stephanie, Jaclyn, Marissa, and Steven; and twelve great grandchildren. Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Sunday, January 17, 2016 from 2:00 to 6:00 PM with her funeral service to follow at 6:00 PM.
