Obituary of Nicholas Goydish

Nicholas Goydish Jr., 79, of Freehold passed away on Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at home surrounded by his loving family. Nicholas was born and raised in Tresckow, PA and had lived in Linden, Roselle and Elizabeth before moving to Freehold Twp. in 1996. He was employed for 40 years as an Inventory Control Specialist for Twin County Grocers, Edison before retiring in 1995. Nicholas will be remembered for his strength in character, his work ethic and his commitment to his family. He was a longtime parishioner of St. Michael's Church, Elizabeth and served his church community, giving of himself and his time with a sense of commitment that was deep and selfless. Wednesday night Bingo was always a hit with Nick running the show. Nicholas was a US Army Veteran serving in the Korean War as a Sergeant First Class, in the Combat Engineers division as a demolition expert. He was forever proud of his uniform and his country. Nicholas was predeceased by his parents, Nicholas and Anna Goydish; two brothers, Thomas and Michael Goydish; and a sister, Mary Gramata. He is survived by his wife and best friend of 56 years, Rosemarie Raymond Goydish. Together they built a lifetime of happy memories, a strong family and an unbreakable vow to always love each other even as the stumbling blocks of life tested them. He is also survived by three sons, Nicholas Goydish III and his wife, Nancy of Howell, Joseph Raymond Goydish and his wife, Kimberly Quinn of Atlanta, GA and Michael Goydish and his partner Cathy Chase of Clark; a daughter, Lisa Petillo-Belli and her husband, Steve Belli of Colts Neck. Nicholas was a remarkable father and even better grandfather to twelve grandchildren, Angela, Nicholas IV, Quinn, Nicole, Joe, Michael II, Ryan Anthony, Erika, Joseph Sergio, Melissa, Allison and Rebecca; two sisters, Anna Grusetski of Sugar Loaf, PA and Bernadine Ensor of Englewood, FL; and a brother, Bernard "Happy Bernie" Goydish of Hillsborough, NJ. Visiting at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Friday, March 23, 2012 from 2:00 to 4:00 & 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Rite of Committal at the funeral home on Saturday, March 24, 2012 at 12:00 noon followed by his 1:00 PM Funeral Mass at St. Veronica's Catholic Church, 4215 Route 9 North, Howell Township, NJ. At Nicholas' request, please wear "a little something red". Interment will be private.
