Obituary of Christopher Prongay

Christopher C. Prongay, 60, of Howell passed away suddenly at home on Monday, February 9, 2015. Chris was born in Camp Kilmer in Edison, and lived in Edison and Keasbey before settling in Howell in 1987. After serving in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, he worked as a union electrician through I.B.E.W. #456, New Brunswick previously Local #358, Perth Amboy. Chris enjoyed saltwater fishing, riding his Harley, playing guitar, following Pearl Jam throughout the U.S. and traveling with his wife, Alice. He was a Giants, Yankees and Devils fan. More than anything, he loved his wife and family. He was predeceased by his parents, Harold and Mary Joan Prongay; his sister, Mary Cook and his father-in-law, James White. Chris is survived by his wife of 38 years, Alice Prongay; nine siblings, Anne Murphy and her husband, John of St. George, UT, Debbie French and her husband, Memory of Winnfield, LA, Andrew Prongay and his wife, Helene of Harleysville, PA, Mark Prongay and his wife, Donna of Brick, Theresa Wares and her husband, George of Edison, David Prongay of Dunellen, Denise Zeno of Mt. Holly, Brian Prongay and his wife, Trish of Edison and Michele Fischer of Laurence Harbor; his in-laws, Jeanette Dye and her husband, Brian of Palm Coast, FL; Patricia Hughes and her husband, Brian of Carteret, Lizabeth Olexson and her husband, Edward of Edison, and Trevor Cook of the United Kingdom; fifteen nephews and ten nieces, Michael Murphy, Clifton French and his wife, Shayla, Jessica Prongay, Daniel Prongay, Nicole Young and her husband, Kurtis, Nina Prongay, Theresa Petrov and her husband, Andrei, Kelly Cook, Matthew Cook, Ryan Wares, Joey Wares, Timmy Wares, Jill Lehman and her husband, Billy, Jodi Reiner and her husband, Jack, Matthew Prongay, Anthony Zeno, Angela Nardone and her husband, Isaac, Brian Prongay and his wife, Lyndsey, Caitlyn Prongay, Kevin Prongay, Christina Prongay, Alexander Odolecki, Mario Melillo, Christopher Olexson and Alexander Olexson; fifteen grandnieces and grandnephews; and his stepmother-in-law, Carolyn White of Edison. He was also the loving godfather to Mario Melillo, William Christison, Matthew Cook and Kevin Prongay. Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Thursday, February 12, 2015 from 3:00 to 8:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home on Friday, February 13, 2015 at 8:30 AM for the procession to his 9:30 AM Funeral Mass at the Church of St. Veronica, 4215 Route 9 North, Howell.
