Obituary of Joseph Salvatore

Joseph V. Salvatore, 87, of Freehold Township passed away on Friday, February 6, 2015 at Applewood Estates. Joe was born in Newark, raised in Millburn and had lived in Chatham Township and Monmouth Beach before moving to Freehold Township in 2012. He was a United States Navy Veteran during World War II serving on the U.S.S. Texas from 1945 to 1946 in the Pacific Theatre. Joe retired in 2005 from Granger Industrial Supplies after working 25 years. Prior to that Joe was the owner of Valley Bowl in Montclair. He was a member of the Monmouth Beach Crab Shack and the Monmouth Beach Veteran Association. Joe was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to many. Joe was predeceased by a brother, Vincent Salvatore. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Marjorie Salvatore of Freehold Township; two sons, Joseph Salvatore, III and his wife, Ann of Freehold Township and William Salvatore and his wife, Anne of Manalapan; a daughter, Jean Holden and her husband, Edward of Mt. Pleasant, S.C.; six grandchildren, Joseph IV, Michael, Jenna, William, Matthew and Jessica; and a sister, Marlene Sharp and her husband, Frank of Chatham Township.
