Obituary of Jose Gener

Jose Gener, Sr., 94, of Union City, NJ passed away peacefully at The Fountains in Secaucus, on Friday, February 24, 2012. Mr. Gener was born in the town of Aguacate, outside the city of Havana, Cuba. Jose came to the United States in 1963 settling in Jersey City before moving to Union City after his retirement. He retired in 1985 as head cashier at the Waldorf Astoria. Previously he had worked at Wilpet Tool & Manufacturing Company in Kearny and had owned his own business in Cuba. Jose was predeceased by his wife, Adelina "Herminia" Gener in 2009 and previously by his sister, Maria (Nena) Gener. Surviving is a son, Jose Gener and his wife, Lauren of Freehold Township; three grandchildren, Rachael of Manhattan, Marissa & Matt of Freehold Township; a brother, Santiago Gener of Aguacate, Cuba. The family would like to express its deep gratitude for the many kindnesses and loving care provided by the staff of The Fountains over the last few years, as well as the additional support provided by Grace Hospice during the final weeks.
