Obituary of Leah Mendoza

 

Leah Mendoza, 51, of Manchester passed away at home on Sunday, September 25, 2022.  She was born in New York City and raised in Middletown before settling in Manchester in 2017.  Leah was a graduate of the Middletown High School South Class of 1989 and then attended Brookdale Community College where she received her Associate of Science degree in Nursing. She continued her education at Thomas Edison University where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing in 2016. Leah recently received her Master of Science from Chamberlin University College of Nursing in early 2022. She worked as a nurse and administrator at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township for fifteen years.  A woman of deep faith, Leah was a parishioner of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Farmingdale. She had a passion for singing with her group “The Angel Tones”.  Leah loved traveling and visited many destinations including Spain, Portugal, the Philippines, Las Vegas, Hawaii, and her family in California. She enjoyed cruising throughout the Caribbean as well.

 

Leah was predeceased by her mother, Margarette Gulfin.  She is survived by her son, Jordan Gulfin and his partner, Kenneth Kitell of Orlando, FL; former husband, Vincent Mendoza of Old Bridge; father Antonio Gulfin and his partner, Susan of NY; siblings, Erik Gulfin and his wife, Michelle of Brea, CA and Allison Morath and her husband, Tanner of Brea, CA; boyfriend of thirteen years, Donald Policastro of Manchester; nieces, Elisa, Makayla and Maggie; nephew, Jackson; three aunts, three uncles; and numerous cousins.

 

Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Thursday, September 29, 2022, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM.  Relatives and friends are invited to attend her 11:00 AM Funeral Mass at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 31 Asbury Road, Farmingdale on Friday, September 30, 2022.  Interment will be private. For those who cannot make the visitation and Funeral Mass in person, the family invites you to participate via Webcast, HERE.  For information, directions or to leave condolence messages to the family, visit www.claytonfuneralhome.com
