Obituary of Philip Charles Sebor
Philip Charles Sebor, age 28, died on Saturday, March 23, 2019. Philip was born in Freehold Township, New Jersey to Robin and Thomas Sebor. He attended Freehold Township High School. Philip was the eldest of five boys that shared an inseparable bond. He had the unconditional love of his entire immediate and extended family. His family felt the love in return. He will be remembered for his courage during difficult times.
Philip was an exceptional student who excelled in math and science. He could often be found in a game of basketball with his brothers and the neighbors on the Sebor Home Basketball Court. He was a member of the Varsity Bowling team starting as a freshman. Philip liked to laugh and always wanted to win. He was a fierce competitor.
Philip was diagnosed with schizophrenia in 2009. He succumbed to his illness and ended his own life. Philip fought valiantly to have a meaningful life. His mental illness did not define him. Philip taught us so much about mental illness and the need for support and compassion from society. Over the coming days as you talk to people about Philip’s death, please remember he was not schizophrenic, he had an illness called schizophrenia. Philip himself was a beautiful child of God. Please know that he was a sweet, wonderful person that loved life, the people and family around him.
Philip is survived by his family, his loving parents, Robin and Thomas Sebor; his adoring grandmother, Barbara Friedman; and his beloved four brothers, Cal, Jeff, Ty, and Billy Sebor. He is also survived by his close knit and loving family of aunts, uncles and cousins.
