BEATRICE HARWOOD, 81, of FARMINGDALE, died Friday, Nov. 23, at Meridian Subacute Rehab Center, Wall. Mrs. Harwood was born in Passaic and lived in Farmingdale since 1958, moving from the Fanwood and Clifton areas. She was a payroll specialist for the Freehold Regional School System, retiring in the late 1970s. Mrs. Harwood was a member of the first United Methodist Church of Farmingdale, a past secretary for the church, and an adviser from 1964 to 1972 to the United Methodist Fellowship. Beatrice was a former president of the Farmingdale Fourth Nightly Women's Club, and the Farmingdale P.T.A. She also volunteered for the American Heart Association. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert F. Harwood, in October 2001. Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, David Harwood and his wife LiHuaLei of Northfield, and Kevin Harwood and his wife Diane of Howell; one grandson, Jonathon Harwood; one great-grandson, Jamison Harwood; and two brothers, Fred Carlson of Pines Lake, and Harold Carlson of Clifton. Relatives and friends are invited to gather at 11 a.m. Friday for her memorial service at the First United Methodist Church of Farmingdale, 8 Main St., Farmingdale, with the Rev. Dr. Wayne Richards, pastor, officiating. Inurnment will follow at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown, at a time to be announced. Arrangements are under the direction of Clayton and McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township.
