Obituary of Edward Miller

EDWARD MILLER, MD, 88, of MILLSTONE TOWNSHIP, died Monday, Nov. 12, at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Mr. Miller was born in Passaic and had lived in Millstone Township for the past 40 years. Dr. Miller retired in 1995 as the medical director at Organon Pharmaceuticals. Prior to that, he was the medical director for Ciba-Geigy, Summit. From 1962 to 1980, he was the director of clinical oncology for Hoffman LaRoche, Nutley, and from 1955 to 1962, Dr. Miller was an attending physician for the VA Hospital in New York City. Dr. Miller attended St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Millstone Township. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving during World War II, and achieved the rank of lieutenant senior grade. He was a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology. In the 1970s, he served as chairman of the Millstone Township Planning Board. Dr. Miller received his bachelor of science degree from Cornell University in 1942. He graduated from the University of Zurich Medical School in 1953 and served his internship at Glen Cove Hospital in 1954. Surviving are his wife, C. Elaine Miller; three sons, Danny "Daniel" Miller of Plainsboro, Ricky "Erick" Miller of Kennett Square, Pa., and Edward Miller of Newton, Mass.; a daughter, Heidi Deiner of Millstone Township; and nine grandchildren. Visiting hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. Wednesday until the funeral service at 8:30 p.m. at Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Interment will be Thursday at 11:30 AM at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown.
