Obituary of Vassily B. Lyashko
Vassily B. Lyashko, 73, of Howell passed away on Monday, February 23, 2026, at his residence. He was born in Kamensk-Uralsky, Russia. Vassily immigrated to the United States in 1990, initially settling in Lakewood before moving to Howell in 1993. He enjoyed a long career with Amtrak, serving from 1998 until his retirement in 2022. A dedicated member of his community and culture, Vassily served as the President of the World Cossacks Association and held the military rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the Cossack Military. He was also an active member of the Kuban Cossacks Library & Museum and remained deeply interested in military history. An accomplished drummer, Vassily met his wife at Rodina while performing. They were married in 2007 and traveled the world together. He had a great love for travel and expressed a lifelong wish to retire in Italy.
Vassily is survived by his wife, Lyudmila Kolomiyets of Howell; son, Arthur Lyashko of Russia and grandson, Danilla Lyashko.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his 12:00 PM funeral service at the Nativity of the Holy Virgin Church (St Mary's) Russian Orthodox Church, 316 Cassville Road, Jackson Township, NJ 08527 on Friday, February 27, 2026.
