Obituary of Robert H. Barton

Robert H. Barton, 69, of Howell passed away on Thursday, February 19, 2026 at Monmouth Medical Center Southern Campus, Lakewood. Bob was born in Pirmasens, Germany and was raised on U.S. Army bases throughout the world and settled in Fair Haven. He lived in Fair Haven, Red Bank and Freehold before settling in the Adelphia section of Howell in 1990. Bob then moved in 2018 to the Oak Hill Community in Howell.

He graduated from Monmouth University with a degree in history and received his master's in theology from New Brunswick Theological Seminary, a seminary of the Reformed Church in America.

Bob worked most recently as a Chaplain for Serenity Hospice in the Southern Monmouth and the Northern Ocean regions until retiring in 2024. Previously, he worked for many hospice companies in the area and also volunteered as a Chaplain at CentraState Medical Center. Bob belonged to many church choirs throughout the years and always could be found singing in promptly the song, "In the Garden".

Prior to becoming an ordained minister, he worked in the computer networking field for Vonage and as a subcontractor at Fort Monmouth. Bob was a friend of Bill W. for many years. He was a gamer at heart. Bob belonged to a Dungeons and Dragons group with friends from high school and his daughter. He played Magic and Warcraft Guild and relished his time playing old fashion video games.

Bob was predeceased by his parents, William and Dolores Barton, Sr. He is survived by his daughter, Pamela Barton; former wife, Andrea Noren, and his brother, William Barton, Jr.
