Janice Tkacs

Obituary of Janice S. Tkacs

Janice S. Tkacs, 83, of Freehold Township passed away at home on Wednesday, February 11, 2026.  She was born and raised in Trenton, and had lived in Allentown prior to settling here in 1997.  Janice had a degree in Library Science from Mercer County Community College where she served as a librarian advancing to the College Testing Center where in all she was employed for over 50 years.  She took immense pride in her long-term service and commitment to the institution.

Janice loved going to Atlantic City and trying her luck on the slots which was actually more like donating. She was a very active lady taking every opportunity to be involved.  Janice wore many hats at the Silvermead Community where she lived for over 30 years, most recently serving on the Decorating Committee.  She would also host the annual Trim-A-Tree and Fundays for Sundays for the people of the community.

You would find her at most functions – especially the ones that had a band or DJ as she loved to dance!  Given her history as a librarian, she took care of the books in the library at the Silvermead Community.  Janice truly cherished spending time with family and dear friends that were like family.  She never missed an opportunity to have a little fun!

Janice was predeceased by her spouse, Dennis Tkacs; and her son, Richard Murphy, Jr.  She is survived by her son, Dennis Murphy and his wife, Lisa of New Egypt; sister, Marie Ryder of Mesa, AZ; niece, Sharon Ryder-Platts of Mesa, AZ; nephew, Steven Ryder of Mesa, AZ; grandchildren, John Murphy and his wife, Michele of Richmond, VA, Allison Murphy and her fiancé, Babek Chizari of St. Petersburg, FL, Cindy O’Donnell and her husband, Eddie of Little Egg Harbor, and Mariae Kovsky and her husband, Robert of Cream Ridge; great grandchildren, Mason, Nova, Leila, Ava, Eric and Isabelle; and many dear friends.

All arrangements are private and under the direction of the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, Freehold Township. To leave condolence messages for the family, visit www.claytonfuneralhome.com
