Obituary of Theresa G. Lang

Theresa G. Lang, 83, of Freehold Township passed away on Sunday, November 2, 2025 at Sunrise of Jackson. She was born in Newark and was raised in Bloomfield before settling in Freehold in 1985. Theresa dedicated over 20 years of her life as a Board Secretary at Freehold Township Schools, leaving a lasting impact on the community. Prior to that, she worked for the Essex County Park Commission, showcasing her dedication to public service. One of Theresa's greatest joys in life was being called Mima by her two granddaughters whom she enjoyed spoiling. She was a devout Catholic who found solace in praying to St. Gerard and cherished attending the St. Gerard feast in Newark on 7th Avenue. In her free time, Theresa enjoyed playing words with friends, playing cards, going bargain shopping with her sister, rescuing animals in need, and indulging in knitting, sewing and crocheting. Theresa will be remembered for her culinary talents, especially her famous knot cookies during Christmas time and her delicious gravy and meatballs. Her passion for bowling was unmatched, and she belonged to numerous bowling leagues throughout her life. It was through her love for the sport that she met her husband at Eagle Rock Lanes. She shared a special bond with her sister, who considered her to be a mother figure, their relationship was truly one of a kind. Theresa also loved vacationing in Wildwood every summer, creating lasting memories with her loved ones.

Theresa was predeceased by her parents, Patrick and Grace Armeno. She is survived by her husband, Fred Lang; daughter, Karen Lang of Denver, CO; son, Bobby Lang and his wife, Kathleen of Jackson; granddaughters, Avery and Anabelle;  sister, Stella Luke and her husband, Billy of Freehold; nephews, Patrick Luke and his wife, Erica, Thomas Luke and his wife, Ashley, Jeffrey Luke and his wife, Heather; best friends, Joe and Marianne Neswick; and many great nieces and nephews, extended family members and friends.

A visitation will be held at Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524),Freehold Township on Friday, November 7, 2025 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her 10:30 AM Funeral Mass on Saturday, November 8, 2025 at the Co-Cathedral of St. Robert Bellarmine, 61 Georgia Road, Freehold Township. Entombment will follow in St. Rose of Lima Catholic Cemetery, 299 Freehold-Englishtown Road, Freehold.
