Obituary of William G. "Bill" Cole

William G. “Bill” Cole, 87, of Wall Township passed away peacefully at Preferred Care at Wall on Saturday, November 1, 2025.  Born in Neptune, raised in Neptune City, he settled in Wall Township in 1971.  Bill was a true artisan of wood, dedicating his life to the trade of carpentry and cabinet making.  He began his working career with Joe Hindley and then started his own business.  Throughout his career, Bill also shared his talents at Kitchens by Majorie for over ten years and retired from Woodhaven after more than a decade of service.

A man who loved to keep busy, Bill enjoyed his time off the clock.  He was a familiar face at Toms Tavern in Farmingdale.  Bill had a passion for collecting and restoring antiques, and he was an avid gun collector.  He was known for having a garage workshop where he loved to tinker and repair things, putting his skilled hands to use on various projects, including crafting two wooden antique car bodies.  One of his greatest joys was visiting his daughter's cabin in East Waterford, Pennsylvania.

Bill was predeceased by his parents, George and Sarah Cole, sisters, Joyce Rahilly and Elizabeth Waddell; son in law, Tim “Murph” Murphy and his granddaughter, Ashley Murphy. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Marilyn “Mert” Cole; children, Bill Cole and his wife, Mary of Howell, Tammie Murphy and her fiancé, Rick Worth of Freehold and Steven Cole and his wife, Sandy of Howell; nine grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.

All arrangements are private and under the direction of the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, Freehold Township.  For information or to leave condolence messages to the family, visit www.claytonfuneralhome.com .
