Rose Maher

Obituary of Rose Marie Maher

Rose Marie Maher, 90, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 4, 2025 at Bear Creek Assisted Living in West Windsor.  Rose Marie was born, raised and had lived in Brooklyn for most of her life. She moved to New Jersey in 2002, calling Manalapan, home for over twenty years.  She moved to West Windsor to live near her daughter just this year.  Rose Marie began her professional career in New York City at Coty Cosmetics and returned to work as a bookkeeper in Brooklyn after taking time to raise her daughter.  Rose Marie found her calling later in life as the Assistant to the Principal at Sons of Israel Preschool.  She loved pizza days, sprit days, and watching children grow up around her. She retired from Sons of Israel, at age 85, after 18 years. She called that time a blessing, noting how she treasured the friendships she found there, though most of her colleagues were young enough to be her daughters. She credited this job with keeping her young.

Rose Marie loved her visits to Atlantic City with friends and family and late night Bingo games with friends.  She enjoyed her scratch-off crossword tickets and was once a proud Cash Five winner in the New Jersey Lottery. Known for her sharp mind and quick wit, Rose Marie was devoted to her family and deeply loved those closest to her. She was quick to be at someone’s side when they needed her and selflessly dedicated herself to her daughter and grandchildren. Rose Marie never missed a recital, concert, or play and saved each and every program and playbill for all of her girls.

Rose Marie was predeceased by her husband of over 40 years, Joseph and siblings Joseph Cali, Anna Cipolla, and Jean Latona.  She is survived by her daughter, Stacey Delbridge and her husband, Mark; granddaughters, Vanessa and Madeleyn; her twin brother, Sonny Cali and his wife, Rosemary; along with a loving step-family and countless nieces and nephews. Her legacy will continue to shape her family’s lives for years to come.

A visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Tuesday, October 7, 2025 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM.  Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home on Wednesday, October 8, 2025 at 10:00 AM for the procession to her 11:00 AM Funeral Mass at St. Gabriel’s Historic Church, 549 Route 520, Marlboro.  Entombment will follow in St.  Gabriel’s Cemetery & Chapel Mausoleum, Marlboro.  For those who desire, memorial contributions may be made to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, 633 3rd Ave, 5th Floor New York, NY 10017 or HERE.           For information, directions or condolence messages to the family, visit www.claytonfuneralhome.com.
