Obituary of Donna Marie Giventer
Donna Marie Giventer, 71, of Highlands passed away on Monday, July 14, 2025 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. She was born in Newark, was raised in Union Beach and had lived in Staten Island and Freehold before settling in the Highlands in 2018. Donna worked as a speech pathologist at Memorial School in Union Beach for over 30 years. She was known for her unwavering commitment to her students and her caring nature towards everyone around her. Donna was an altruistic saint, nicknamed “Saint Donz” and her greatest joy came from nurturing and supporting her family. She was a loving and supportive friend to all, always there to lend a listening ear or a helping hand. Donna enjoyed spending time with her friends from the school she taught and her neighbors, participating in a book club, and was an active member of an investment club and marina club. She will be remembered for her kind heart, selflessness, and dedication to her profession. Donna leaves behind a legacy of love and compassion that will be cherished by all who knew her. She was like a warm welcome hug.
Donna is predeceased by her husband, Barnet Giventer; son, Evan Giventer; parents, Daniel Bill and Angela DeVino. She is survived by her daughter, Sara Medler and her husband, Daniel of Lake Como; two sisters, Gerlyn Clark and her husband, Ronald of Altmar, New York and Theresa Bill and her husband, Gustavo Mendez of Hillsborough; nieces and nephews, Joseph and his wife, Abigail, Scott and his wife, Shannon, Katherine, Daniel, Zachery and Jessie; great nieces and nephews, Bryson, Tyler, Rowan, Parker, Dakota, Max and Mabel; cousins, Charlene Sheehan and her husband, Eddie and John J. Duffy, III and his wife, Suzanne; and many extended family members and friends.
A visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on July 18, 2025 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her 11:00 AM Funeral Mass on Saturday, July 19, 2025 at The Parish of Saint Mary, 1 Phalanx Rd, Colts Neck, NJ 07722.
