Obituary of Joseph R. Dewey

It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joseph R. Dewey who passed away March 14, 2025, at the age of 18. Joseph was born in Freehold, NJ on October 27, 2006, and was a lifelong resident of Millstone Township, NJ.

“Joe” as he was known by all, was a beloved son, grandson, nephew, cousin, and buddy.  Throughout his life, Joe faced challenges, yet he had an unparalleled ability to touch the hearts of others. His smile, sense of humor, and gentle nature served as an inspiration to all who knew him. Joe was truly an angel on earth, reminding us of the importance of empathy in our daily lives.  Joe will be deeply missed by everyone who was blessed to know him.

Joe enjoyed listening to music, attending school at Academy Learning Center, hanging out with everyone at the Friendship Circle of Central Jersey, and just being around his family and friends. He loved his dog Yogi,  peanut butter and vanilla milkshakes, grandma’s meatballs, his dad’s chicken parmigiana, and trips to Dunkin Donuts.  He especially loved to swim at his Pop-Pop’s and Grandmom’s pool.

He is survived by his loving parents, Keith Dewey and Erin Dewey (Carson); maternal grandparents, Richard and Christine Carson (Stepowany); paternal grandparents, Raymond and Grace Dewey (Chiaco); uncles, Brian Carson and his wife, Cara and Dean Dewey and his wife, Penny; and many loving great aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A special note of gratitude is extended to Patty Meyer, Joe’s devoted lifelong buddy, who provided unwavering support and care throughout his life. Patty’s love, dedication, and compassion will never be forgotten.

All arrangements are private and under the direction of the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, Freehold Township, NJ.
