
Obituary of Maria Rosaria Prestigiacomo
Maria Rosaria Prestigiacomo, 89, of Freehold passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday, March 13, 2025. She was born and raised in Torretta Palermo, Italy, lived on Elizabeth Street, New York City and Borough Park, Brooklyn, and settled in Freehold in 2010. Maria was a skilled seamstress for many years. She enjoyed family trips to Italy and traveling to Atlantic City. Maria always prepared fresh home cooked meals and spending time with her family. She was known for her strong will, overcoming many medical setbacks. Maria was always happy and loved by everyone she crossed paths with, which was truly shown in the last two weeks.
Her children and grandchildren will miss the pillar of the family.
She was predeceased by her parents, Lorenzo and Rosalia Mannino; and sisters, Angela Meccia, Salvatrice Giaconne, Antonina Mannino, and Maria Gambino. Maria is survived by her beloved husband of 55 years who never left her side, Stefano Prestigiacomo; children, Concetta Scalamandre and her husband, Vinny of Freehold, Vito Prestigiacomo and his wife, Dina of Staten Island, and Lorenzo Prestigiacomo and his wife, Laura of Glen Rock; grandchildren, Gigi, Vincent, Stefano, Rubie, Giovanni, Luca, Enzo, and Marco; sisters, Gaetana Bassini and Francesca DiMaggio; a beloved aunt to her many nieces and nephews; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Friday, March 14, 2025 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her 10:30 AM Funeral Mass at the Co-Cathedral of St. Robert Bellarmine, 61 Georgia Road, Freehold Township.
