Obituary of George Andrew Garrison

George Andrew Garrison, 81, of Howell passed away at home on Friday, April 19, 2019.  He was born and raised in Belleville, and had lived in Laurence Harbor and Old Bridge before settling in Howell in 2011. A United States Army veteran, George served a tour in Germany on the transport ship the USS Butler.  He worked for the Township of Old Bridge as a foreman of the Road Department for over 31 years, and also for the Old Bridge Board of Education as a custodian.  He had a bountiful garden where he grew tomatoes, corn, lettuce and cabbage to name a few.  George owned two boats, one of which was named Wild Goose II and he loved boating with his family.  In retirement, he joined Bally’s in East Brunswick where his son introduced him to the game of racquetball.  For 15 years George played 3 hours a day several times a week. A regular at TGI Fridays in Old Bridge, he could be compared to Norm from Cheers.  More than anything, George treasured his children and grandchildren, and he leaves them with so many beautiful memories.

He was predeceased by his parents, Andrew and Florence Garrison; and his canine companion, Lassie in 2019.   George is survived by is children, Tara Jones and her husband, Dr. Michael Jones of Millstone, Shannon Khulusi and her husband and his doctor, Dr. Nami Khulusi of Howell; and Glenn George Garrison and his wife, Alexandra Garrison of Millstone; six grandchildren, Yanal, Brendan, Siobhan, Gavin, Isabella and Patrick; and his friend and former wife, Geraldine Shepherd.
