Obituary of Rodrigo L. Bernardo

Rodrigo Bernardo, 81, of Freehold passed in peace at The Manor on Sunday, April 1, 2018. Rodrigo was born in the Philippines and immigrated to the United States in 1974.  He lived in Jersey City and East Brunswick prior to moving to Freehold.  He was the CNA of Greenville Hospital for over 25 years.  A kind soul, Rodrigo was a loving husband and father who was generous to a fault.  He enjoyed the art of food, cooking and testing all types.  He was a sports enthusiast and a fan of Shaquille O’Neal. 

Rodrigo was predeceased by his son, Francisco Bernardo in 1964.  He is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Neddie Bernardo; daughters, Maria Bernardo of Freehold and Ann Marie Penaranda and her husband, Dennis of MD; sons, Lou Bernardo and his wife, Aimee of SC and Christopher Bernardo of Jersey City; three grandchildren, Katherine Bernardo, Joshua Bernardo and Skyler Bernardo; dear friend, Miguel Noguera; one nephew, Joey Lao and his wife, Rose; great nieces and nephews, MacKenzie Lao and Muriel Lao; and many extended family members and friends. 

Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Friday, April 6, 2018 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM.  Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at 9:00 AM for the procession to his 10AM Funeral Mass at the Co-Cathedral of St. Robert Bellarmine, 61 Georgia Road, Freehold Township.  Interment will be private.  For information, directions or condolence messages to the family, visit www.claytonfuneralhome.com
